again...

Who has stated/agreed insurance AND drives their car each day?

I drive my GN about 7000 miles / year. Work is only about 22 miles round trip each day.

I need to get something else as I all I have is Geico right now and I heard they only pay $7,500. My GN is worth about 15,000.

TIA!

I know it's a bit late but .........Farmers Insuance will allow you to carry full coverage at a stated value.

Call a local Agent and tell him what you are wanting.

Can you give more details Dan? The few places I contacted that do stated or agreed value policies said no daily driving. One place said it would be okay to take it and show it off once every couple of months, but that was it. What are the restrictions and how much would it end up costing are the real questions. For now my car is covered with a storage plan, only $66 for 6 months, which I wish I would have known about a few years ago, cuz I was paying the full deal while it was parked over the winter. Live and learn. Oh yeah, I've been trying to keep all of the insurance talk to one main discussion link so we have all of the good info in one big piece, instead of lots of little chunks. It's in The Experience:"Stated value" insurance? which is here: http://www.gnttype.org/discus/messages/10/921.html?1071808972
It probably won't answer your exact question but I just want to try and keep everything about insurance linked together.

sorry to say - if you drive it everyday, youre at just as much risk as if you were driving a '79 corolla. You wont get any special treatment stating things that way.

What I do..insure it as a 3K mile/year showcar. Driving to/from shows, burger hangouts, etc..make sure your agent knows that you dont drive it everyday, but you drive in on NICE days and it's all cleaned & polished. I can honestly say i dont drive my car 3K miles/year, so im not lying. However, i dont deserve to pay regular rates vs. cars that go 12-20K miles/year also. My risk is MUCH lower to an insurance company due to the frequency that the car is driven. When it's not driven, it's kept in the garage (homeowners) under a cover.

Hungry agents will insure it. Big companies won't..get it appraised, and let the agent/company fight out the details. Meanwhile..drive your car daily and who's to say you weren't on your way to storage, or a "winter cleaning" when (god help it) you get tagged in the car. If you have clearance to drive 3,000 milesyear..they cant tell you the damn streets you can drive on. Just play it smart, and let your insurance agent work for you..
All my cars are "show cars", and when my friend got tagged in his 14K mile GN, he got treated like a king because of how high his car appraised at. You MUST have an appraisal to show your "'87 Regal 2door turbo" isn't just some $3K p.o.s. on the road. Insurance companies have no clue what these cars are worth...i also keep documented lists and reciepts of every mod, every cent i've put into it, and update it with my insurance agent. I dont hide the value from the agent, and in return - the car is honestly insured for what it's worth! $23,500.

I have agreed value insurance and although I do not drive my car each day, it would be possible. Since there is snow about 7 months a year in Chicoutimi, I simply cancel insurance on my 87 T from october to the end of April. Like Jay stated, I had to get it appraised if I wanted more than what the insurance company assumes an "87 regal" is worth. It costs more in insurance now, but it's well worth it. I'm with "La Capitale", though that company might not exist in the States.
