CURT ENGLEHARDT (Turbo2) | Thursday, March 07, 2002 - 06:49 am Does anyone know if the differences between the Level 10 shift kit and the B&M shift kit are worth the $100.00 extra pricetag? Thanks in advance, Curt. |
mario rodriguez (Buicktime) | Thursday, March 07, 2002 - 08:19 am hey Curt, level 10 has done alot of TR (200-4R) transmissions before, so if I was going to buy either one of the company's you've mentioned it would be level 10. I dont know of anyone using the B&M shift kit.. the most popular and proving shift kit is the art carr. I've rebuilt several trans. and always used art carr with no problems at all. So if want to compare, compare the level 10 with art carr!!! MARIO |
Ken Mosher (Kenmosher) | Thursday, March 07, 2002 - 02:30 pm LOTS of people are using the B&M kit ... including myself for the past 15 years. If you look at the kits, most are variation on the same theme.. improved pressure regulator valve, stiffer accumulator springs, increased TV pressure, VB plate with holes drilled out, etc. The Fairbanks kit is almost identical to the B&M and works really well too. Several of the trans builders use the B&M or Younger kits as starting points for their custom "tweaked" kits. Bottom line, most of the kits are pretty decent out there and I'm sure the Level 10 incorporates some "tricks" work with the way they like to set up a trans. |
mario rodriguez (Buicktime) | Thursday, March 07, 2002 - 03:39 pm It's good to hear that there are some trans. with the B&B shift kits, as I mentioned before I dont know of any one using there kit so I couldnt comment on it. As far as Level 10 and Art Carr, i've used them and can only comment on them. Fairbanks i've only used once (on a 200-4R) and worked great (probably the most affordable kit), but work better on a 350TH trans.. I personally have been running an Art Carr kit in my 87 GN for 11 years with excellent crisp shifts. The kits mentioned above (like Ken said) emphasize on the same principals. But I have had no problems at all with Art Carr.. MARIO |
