    Brian Lee (Brianwagonlee) | Wednesday, September 04, 2002 - 10:40 am  Hi Matt, The reason for retaining the stock linkage, is that you keep the wheel lock, and gear lock. It helps in the antitheft part, and also, the safety aspect too. It can't be shifted without the ignition being unlocked. I almost got run over by a car that had this disconnected. I was inside and the car was outside, at least at first. It came crashing through the door when the guy started it. Also, if you plan to race, this has to be hooked up. The last two times at my local track, they have had me try to start it in gear. I've seen your progress, so I know you wouldn't skip this step, but it will be easier to re-use the factory setup, than having to wire up the new shifter. All you have to do is weld the two brackets together. Brian |
