I'am tired of 2.0-2.2 60' times and would like to buy a converter.
Does anybody have any sugestions?

Here's my combo- TA49 turbo,Walbro pump,hot wire kit,adj. fuel pressure regulater,3" downpipe, no cat. conv.,2 1/2" Hooker exhaust,line loc,trans cooler,BFG drag radials,3.42 posi.,powerplate,K&N filter.

The car runs 13.20's @ 106-107mph now with only 2.0-2.1 60' times.

I bought an Art Carr 9" from Cotton's Performance, and my best 60' had been a 1.9, but usually 2.0 or 2.1. With this converter I got a 1.8 on little teeny white walls. I put on some drag radials, and got a 1.7 60' with a soft launch. It came in at a 12.3. I'm sure there is more in it if I can only get the brakes to hold better at the line, and that was my first and only run on anything wider than 195 tires with that converter.

Brian

My combo is 51 turbo, 2 3/4 exhaust, 206 cam Blue Tops alchy injection, and 93 octane.

Before you blame your torque converter for your high 60-foots, you should take a long look at your tires. If your tires are spinning off the line when you launch, a torque converter is not going to help.

With a combo very similar to yours (TA-49, stock I/C, 3" DP, and Red Stripes), I was able to pull a 1.62 60'. On that day, my sixty-foots ranged from 1.62 to 1.85. All of these runs were with a stock D5 converter and a stock tranny.

The difference was that I had a set of 9" slicks on the back (much, much better than BFG's), and the track was well prepped. I launched at 3 to 5 psi just using the normal foot brake (no line lock or trans brake).

If you can borrow a set of slicks from somebody, give them a try before you buy a converter. Just my advice, anyway.

Good Luck,

I agree with the above guys, BUT if you ARE gonna get a converter, want the best for any cost, check out the Vigilante by Precision Idnustries.

http://www.converter.com/vigilante.htm

1 disc lockup is like $834. 3 disc lockup lets you use lockup (w/ modified trans) while racing without burning up.

I have heard some bad things about Art Carr's - never used them though.

Cheapie converters SUCK.
