Last month I sold a 2500.00 trans and converter to Mike Ahern of New Hampshire. I assembled and built and installed a 9X11 converter in the test car , tested it then shipped. It worked fabulous. Mike waited 7 weeks for his setup. Never a complaint, or whisper of when it would be done. Well he recieves and installs and calls to say how happy he is on Friday.

This weekend he drives to a car show, approx. 50 miles. He calls this morning to say it started to make noise on the way there and to tell me it has quit moving after a bunch of noise.
He also adds that he cked line pressure and there is NONE.

Well I felt terrible. I conveyed to him it sounds like pump explosion but since we have been doing them the way we are now , we have not had any. But with 50 miles on it I felt bad. I advised him to pull back out and tell me what he sees, again , I am very down on myself. He hung up and said he would call when he knew more.
Damn this stuff still truley bothers me. People come to me so they knock down the odds of having trouble.
Well as I worked today, I had a hollow feeling inside as I was trying to figure out how I was going to be able to help him in a timley manner. again , I felt bad.

Well at 5:30 pst , phone rings and its Mike.
I am ready for an ass chewin, but instead he says " Bruce, I called to let you know that I got it out, and I truley believe you had nothing to do with it. "
I say "HUH?"
He went on to say that "he knew how things like this bother me and wanted me to sleep tonight as his "new flexplate" ( not gm)
had broken and this was the cause of failure. " He also stated he believed that it hurt the pump due to this.

Now, there is a honest guy.

Remember he just waited 7 weeks and spent 2500.00

He could have easily just blamed it on me and cussed me out to no end. He could have posted and slammed, but didn't. Even when he called the first time to report his problem , he was very courtious and didn't have any anger in his voice. Disappointment , maybe, but anger , no.

THIS IS THE CUSTOMER I WANT TO WORK FOR.

Well this guy I will go to the moon for.
He was honest and true.

You can bet that he will get going again and with as much help and assistance that I can provide. I will see to it he is thoroughly handled and back running mint.

MIKE AHERN ,I applaude your honesty and your demeaner

I will do ANYTHING I can to get you back up and running ASAP!!!
Even at my expense.

This guy is a guy we should all try to emulate.

I know I will try to

Again, honesty is the best policy all around...

I bet he even remembers the name of your shop is Performance Transmissions, too! :D

Great story, send him a tee shirt so his kids can advertise for you, too!

Nice to hear there are honest, caring customers out there!

Hey Bruce. I just checked out your website and REALLY like what I see. The tranny in my 87 GN is about to go. 1-2 shift slips very bad, and 2-3 isn't even worth laughing at. It use to "light em up", but it doesn't anymore. I want a bulletproof transmission, so you may get a call from me very soon. Later...

Front pump explosion? I had that happen! :)

Car did exactly like you said, zero line pressure, and it wouldnt move.

when the builder took the tranny apart the new 10vein pump was in 6 pieces.

What would cause that?
