Shawn Walinsky (87gninpa) | Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 09:14 am When my car gets hot(like after drving ont he highway for a bit) the trans sometimes sudders and hesitates to go into gear. (its perfect when its cold) And when i come to a stop, the car seems to shake a bit and sometimes stall out(rarely but it has happened a couple times) By looking through the posts in this board, i have realized it may be the TCC. But i have also been told not to replace it if im not sure its at fauult. I did the standard procedures, replace chip, unplug connector, check switches, and problem still persists. The reason i am asking is that i heard if you unplug the 4-prong connector at the drivers side of the trans, the problem will go away if it is indeed the TCC is this true? or could my TCC still be at fault? Any helpw ould be apreciated thank yuo shawn |
Ken Mosher (Kenmosher) | Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 01:44 pm If it's the TCC solenoid it won't help. What usually happens is that the solenoid gets "sticky" and due to heat, varnish, debris (or a combination of all of those) it won't engage/disengage dispite the electrical connection. It's a mechanical fault, so you have to replace the solenoid. Full procedures are on www.gnttype.org and it will cost you a transmission pan gasket (just as well do the filter while you're in there), a solenoid (about $30), and several quarts of transmission fluid. ... and about an hour of your time if you are methodical. |
Bruce Crawford (Meister) | Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 03:47 pm That is like 90% a TCC solenoid problem. Get it fixed, it will not go away only get worse and it is not expensive |
Shawn Walinsky (87gninpa) | Wednesday, July 02, 2003 - 11:32 pm I have now found another chip, put it in, adn teh car seems to be fine. No hesitation, or stalling when braking. Could it have been i had the wrong chip in the whole time? |
