Whats up fellas, new to the board. Usually hang out in the MCSS.com board so dont bash me too bad.
I have an 86 Monte SS with a built 200-4r. I was wondering if the gn govenor will work with my valve body and what differences will be noticed if I do it?

Thanks,
Chris

Don't mix gov's between a Monte and GN. If you swap them you also need to swap the valvebodies. The spring pressures in the valvebody are matched to the govenors. If you want to change shift points, play with the wieghts on the govenor. If you put the GN and Monte govenors side by side you will see that the GN wieghts are much lighter so you would think that it would shift higher than a Monte SS but it shifts around 4200 rpm. So the factory does things in the VB to get the shift points they want. I'm not a trans expert but I have layed with govenors and shiftpoints and found this out.

Ya, kinda sounds like I shouldnt even go there with that one. Well how bout this, instead of swapping govenors what can I expect from a gn valve body? If I could ever find one.
