Car drives/shifts good just converter will not lock up at any speed/throttle. Any tips on troubleshooting? Thanks in advance.

A few things to check:
  • Misadjusted brake switch (there are two of them) ... if they aren't set right, TCC will not lockup
  • Check continuity between terminals A and F on the ALDL connector under the dash. It should go to ground when the ECM commands the TCC to lockup (about 45 mph under light cruise)
  • Check wire harness on driver's side of the transmission and see there's something amiss there
  • Trace wire harness to see if it has been stretched or pulled loose

Top of the brake pedal assembly ... under the dash right about where the pedal pivots.

Ken, Thanks

They are both there huh? I've replaced that one before on another car - from your above post I thought there was another in a different location...

BTW, just bought an 87 T-Type with a few upgrades - wow, that car is FAST !!! :)

The 84 is going through a bit of resto work, will have it back in about a month..

Thanks again

Phil
