| | Friday, September 21, 2001 - 10:12 pm My TH-200 has a bad converter and 1st gear and my local junk yard has a sale on ANY tranny for $50,so I'm going to put in a 200-4R in it.i looked for a tranny today and the best i found was one out of a '86 Caddy.I also found an '82 t-type but it had a TH-350 in it.ok here's where i need the help: (1) do i use the computer from the '86 cadillac with the 200-4R or the one from from the '82 T-Type with the TH-350?if neither then off of which car should i get it? (2)I'm totally confused about which transmission mount to use.can u use my old TH-200 mount or the one from the T-Type with the TH-350?i have also been told that a mount from a TH-400 equiped car would work.someone please help. (3)my driveshast right now[with the TH-200] measures 52 1/2 inches[center of U joint to center of U joint],i think i should use the shorter one in that T-Type[with a TH-350] at the junk yard...am i correct here? (4)and last....will my stock linkages from the the TH-200 work with the 200-4R transmission?and if not what can i use in it's place? (*)one last small question.....does anyone know of a 4speed shift indicator off of another G-body that will work in my stock dash as to have it appear totally original?

| | Sunday, September 23, 2001 - 03:12 pm This really isn't Turbo Regal related. But...since this is applicable to early model TRs, we'll let it slide. You shouldn't need any computer. The only function you might want to control is the lockup converter (TCC), which you could wire up a switch to do manually. Or you could choose not to use it. I'm not sure if any mount other than one for a 200-4R will work. The crossmember will likely have to be relocated on your frame, and there probably isn't a mounting pad where you need it. You may have to weld one up. The TH350 driveshaft should work OK. The TH350 is (nearly) the same length as a TH200-4R. No idea on the linkage. The 200-4R applications I'm familiar with have cable actuation. You might find some more info at http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/transmission/transpage.html

| | Sunday, September 23, 2001 - 11:30 pm yeah.....I guess you're right about the TR thing, but as soon as my V8 spins a rod or something I'm sticking in a bad-boy-buick TR V6 in that sucker! I think i have the computer/lock up stuff kinda figured out.thank you though.Don't about that tranny mount problem i had,I found one today from an '86 G-body and since it was only 20 bucks I bought it incase i needed it and it turns out that I will,so that problem's solved.I've been doing some research on which driveshaft to use and i've found that the old one from my TH-200 will work perfectly.Loyd from http://www.chicagolandbuick.org/ is awesome on info on this swap,he says that my stock linkages(column shift) will work fine. He's also the guy that gave me 99% of the answers I needed. Thanks for helping out and taking the time to respond to this Keller.

| | Monday, September 24, 2001 - 02:08 pm Juan, Why bust your chops for not much gain? The TH200 in my wife's 84 Limited gave out last week and I just dropped in a junkyard TH350. Nice trans and no mods. Dave Walker
