Chris Boydstun (Cgb) | Sunday, September 30, 2001 - 12:40 pm Okay, I'll be honest, the car in question isn't a TR, but it's got a 2004R. I've installed a few shift kits in these tranny's WITH success, and am not a complete idiot, though after reading this post, you may think differently..now that being said. I was in the middle of installing the Trans Go shift correction kit, which is custom modified by Pro Built transmission. I'm also adding a bigger reverse and TV boost valve and a better pressure regulator. After finishing all the valve body mods, drilling the plate, etc, I went to install the pressure regulator, and boost valve. Got the old one out no problem. Cleaned the bore in the tranny, checked for burrs, made sure the new valve was clean. Went to install the assembly ( install order WAS correct, triple-checked it ) but the final sleeve would not fit the bore. NOTE: this is the sleeve that holds the TV boost valve. It acted as if it was too big for the hole in the tranny. Tried REPEATED times to get it installed, no dice. This was yesterday. Left it alone and went to do other things I needed to do so I could go back to this problem with a clear head. That's when I realized the gasket for the 1-2 accumulator plate has ripped when I took it out, so I needed a new one and the kit doesn't have one. So now I KNOW it's not going back together over the weekend...I'll have to get a gasket Monday. Anyway, got back to the PR valve problem, tried installing it SEVERAL times again NO DICE. Then I got the BRIGHT idea of trying to fit JUST the TV sleeve and boost valve to see if it was too big for the bore. Using some petroleum jelly as lube, I tried to see if it would start to go in. After some wiggling, it DID. GREAT I thought, I'll take it back out install the PR valve, spring, other boost valves and put it back together. Using my needle nose pliers to grab it, I wiggled it to get it to come back out and it SLID ALL THE WAY UP INTO THE BORE!!!!!!!!!! I've tried a magnet to pull it back down, no dice, also tried lightly banging on the outside of the tranny case right by the valve to get it come out. NO DICE again. So that's where I'm at. It's in there with NO spring behind it to let it come down. ANY ideas or suggestions to get this out are greatly appreciated. At this point I'm considering drilling a hole into the sleeve and threading a screw in to pull it out, thus ruining the new valve and having to wait until I can get another. Anyway, ANY help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!1 Chris |
