frank marshall (Turbofrank) | Friday, November 16, 2001 - 06:45 am I JUST INSTALLED 12" MOD CONV SEEMS LIKE THE TIRES ARE BREAKING LOOSE FROM THE START EVEN WITH NO BOOST OR INCREASED RPM.MY STREET TIRES WON'T HOLD ANYMORE. I'AM GOING TO BFG'S,PINION SNUBBER AND AIR BAG. IS THIS NORMAL WHEN INSTALLING A DIFF CONV. FRANK |
Dwight Hayden (Elevensecgn) | Friday, November 16, 2001 - 08:36 am You accomplished exactly what you wanted by installing the modified convertor. You now have more torque multiplication available at low rpm as well as the ability to stall the convertor to a higher level thus moving into the power band quicker. Result is your street tires wont cut it anymore. The BFG drag radials will help considerably as will the air bag. I'm personally not fond of a pinion snubber on a GN/T . They worked ok on the old Mopars, but they were leaf springs. Do a search at GNTTYpe archives on rear suspension, control arms etc and you will find a lot of info avail on "traction enhancing devices". To answer your question, yes this is normal. As a point if interest typing in ALL CAPS is considered rude, as if shouting in person. Just so you know. Dwight Hayden |
Road Warrior (Boostme) | Saturday, November 17, 2001 - 06:08 pm I have actually seen cars with snubbers lift and take weight off the rear when they get about 100 feet or so out of the hole. I just have tube lower arms w/poly bushings and one bag.. Works great.. |
