I rebuilt the trans on my 86 GN, used a level ten kit. It worked fine for about a whole day. Then problems started. First when driving on the highway the trans started making a weird whining noise when shifting into overdrive , after a couple of days of failed overdrives shifts, the whining noise stopped. When the high pitched whining noise did occur though I noticed my trans temp shot up to about 250F and the engine would sort of boog(spelling?) down as though it was a manual transmission and you were downshifting. Now the noise and the booging down of the engine stopped, but the transmssion refuses to go into overdrive. The direct scantool shows the 4th gear light when it should be shifting but no shift to overdrive takes place. The fluid flow in the valvebody must be correct if the 4th gear indicator light is active at the correct speed. I haven't had a chance to tear it apart yet but before I do I would like to get some input on what to look for that would cause this problem. Thanks.
Getting ready to pull the trans and attempt to fix. I dont really know exactly what Im looking for maybe the fourth gear clutch seals are torn.Any input would be greatly appreaciated because taking the trans in and out more than once is not a good thing. Thanks.
