| | Monday, March 11, 2002 - 08:28 am GN Rear end: I have a broken axle on my GN (G80) rear. Can I use the one off my 86 Regal parts car? It has a 305 and open carrier. Are there certain codes I should look for to tell me if it contains the same axle unit? How about the axle housing, is the GN unit beefier? The GM Manual only shows one part for the axle in all G bodies unless I’m not looking in the correct place. Please copy me directly: jdoino@conaxbuffalo.com Thanks, Joe D

| | Monday, March 11, 2002 - 09:20 am The parts car most likely has the 7.5" rear end (versus the 8.5" rear in the GN). The housings will be different. You might want to just call Moser Engineering (no relation) or Strange Engineering and buy some hardened axles. Only about $250 and you know what you're getting. Your 86 probably has the 307 BTW

| | Tuesday, March 12, 2002 - 10:15 am Ken, Thanks for the info. The axle was broken in an accident and we want to fix it to put into a friends car, I am still wondering if the axle will fit or if the GN axle is different? He won't spend the $250! Anything else we should look for prior to install to make sure it's "all good"? Thanks for the input on the 86 having a 307..I should pay more attention to my parts car! If it aint a 3.8 I don't get too excited! I'll be contacting you soon to get my turbo link up onto my new laptop with Windows ME.
