| | Thursday, March 28, 2002 - 08:08 pm I recently ordered Global West rear tubular control arms with Del-A-Lum bushings, rear sway bar, springs and Bilstein shocks. I also ordered a set of AirLift air bags, but I'm debating if I really need to install them. I'm looking for any advice. Will the air bags aid or hinder my performance and/or ride quality? Thanks. -Lee Owensby '87 Regal T-Type

| | Thursday, March 28, 2002 - 11:23 pm The main purpose for airbags is to preload the right side of the car so that the "weight" exerted on both tires is equal at launch. The torque of the engine transmitted through the pinion gear onto the ring gear makes the housing rotate and plant the driver side tire and lift the passenger side tire. By preloading the passenger side tire, this lifting can be minimized and tire spin can be reduced. Or if your rear springs are just saggy and you want to raise the back of the car up a little, they will do that, too. Chris Bischof http://perfauto.tripod.com
