I know this is asking a lot, but is there any way I can get my GN to handle more like a camaro or mustang? I enjoy stomping these guys at the lights, but I want to be able to handle like they can. What setups are you guys running? Any suggestions? Thanks

Take a look at:

http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/suspension/suspensionpage.html

You can get there by going to RESOURCES (in the header), then selecting TECHNICAL ARTICLES. Then in the TECHNICAL ARTICLES drop down, pick SUSPENSION.

Although the laws of physics come into play, there's a couple very nice articles on making the TRs handle there...

My 1987 Buick Regal sits higher in the front and lower in the back. What do I do about that problem? I would like it if you can tell me what to do.

Thanks

Darryl

Get new rear springs. I got new ones from Kirbans about two years ago, the variable rate springs, and the wheelwell lip raised from below the tread to about 1-2 inches above it. It solved the lead weight in the trunk look. Or you could get air bags and pump them up, but they may make it a harder ride.

what about just getting bigger tires in the back to raise it up more.

Thanks

Darryl

Bigger tires is sort of a band aid to the real problem (weak springs). Making a tire change to a taller tire can bring it's own set of challenges:
  • Inner fender lip clearance
  • Frame clearance
  • Rubbing on turns
  • Rubbing/cutting the tread on bumps
  • Speedometer off

Larger tires are something that can be done, if planned carefully, wheel back space is taken into account, etc. etc. It's not really something you should do to cover up a problem like weak springs, IMHO.

Ahhh... OK, that's different

In that case, change the front springs to the right ones and you should be good to go. Bigger tires is still a band aid, IMHO.
