I am looking at converting my 86 GN to 12' rotors which would entail the taller spindles and using tubular upper control arms. I have looked at the Global West units but they are pricey. I looked at some websites that cater to circle track/ stock car racers and they have tubular upper control arms for the G bodies at a fraction of the Global West units. Are there any reasons for not using the upper tubular control arms from the circle track/stock car suppliers? The car will see occassional autocross use and maybe a high speed driver's ed class.

I dont run the 12" rotors or tubular arms but if you are refering to the ones that look almost indentical to Global West's I would take a real good look before bolting them on. I have seen those arms and they are made just for the specs on late model and modified stock cars. Many are longer so your knuckle sticks out further. Also some are bent so they have a radical caster built in. Stay away from the ones that have any type of rod ends attached. Also there are two distinct chassis that the stock boys use. One is based on the early(pre 78) full size GM and Ford frames which wont work and the other is called a "metric frame" which is based on the GM G-body. Without any specs on what the G-W arms are it would be impossible to get a straight answer from the stock car suppliers as to whether their arms would work. I work with the guys down at RaceCar Engineering in Winter Park FL and they tell me guys are always calling them and asking if their products will work on street applications and thats the answer they give them. IMO I would probaly go with the arms that you know will work with the 12" brakes.
You may also want to check out Hotchkis for the
control arms and Baer for brakes. Both vendors
make products for Regals. Neither are cheap but
they offer high quality parts & complete kits.
