hello, not eve sure f this question belongs in this category, but anyway.. I have noticed that when i drive slowly through a parking lot, i hear this almost like popping-clicking noise almost as if something is going in an out. I suspect it has something to do with the rearend because I think that is where the noise is coming from however it could be the front end as my dad suspects. It's a hard sound to describe
any suggestions would be helpful.

i have owned my 85 gn for two years, i'm hearing and feeling the same thing, its in the rear end,
i put a posi 3:42 gears out of a 87 gn. this summer, when turn corners slowly the rear end makes a clicking noise and sometimes i feel it threw the floor boards. my cousin a auto mach.
told me on some posies it will do that. and its nomal. i drag race my gn at norwalk race way pk.

traction. no problems yet. my 85 non-intercooled
e.t.'s are. 13.664 at 97.60 m.p.h.!!!!! and i use alseason radial cooper tires set at 15 p.s.i.
boost set at 15 lbs. (wot) and fuel pres. at 35
p.s.i. that it!!!!! I know people say street tires
are no good at the strip but for me the work darn good. Also i launch in 2nd gear, at 4.5 lbs. of boost. and no tire spin at the light!!!!

when I worked for chevy years back the monte's had a similar problem. The clutches in the posi would gum up and stick together. The fix was to add a can of GM posi additive and drive around in circles for a minute or so. Hope this helps

I would try rolling along both in and out of gear to further diagnose the problem. Also see if it happens when both on and off the brakes.
The clutch type posi's tend to shudder and do other weird things when they don't have the additive in their lube, but I wouldn't expect one to make any metallic pop or click.
when my posi in my 76 Skylark was on its way out, it made all kinds of clicking and popping sounds...this was about 3 days before it exploded, taking the case with it. Not to be the bearer of bad news...may want to at least change the fluid, or get it checked out
