Sunday, October 27, 2002 - 10:08 am I'm going to begin resurrecting an '86 Regal T-Type next weekend, bodywise the car is fine, no rust whatsoever... What I'm going to need is the front bumper, parking lights, and reinforcements, along with the corner turn signals on the front end. If I go dumpster hopping for parts, could I replace the parts with those from a stock Regal? From pictures I have found on the net, the '86 T-Types appeared to have a normal chrome bumper (mine looks to have been painted over with black paint, to match the rest of the car). Thanks in advance. Sam

Monday, October 28, 2002 - 06:09 am The bumper was probably painted since you said it's an 86. If it were an 87 it could be a WE4 car which came with black bumpers. Does the grill have some chrome on it? If not, it was painted or replaced with 87 parts.

Monday, October 28, 2002 - 07:22 am Off the top of my head, I want to say there's some chrome on the grill, but I believe it's also all black, as is the rest of the car. I'm going to start taking pictures as I begin resurrecting this car, ooh if you could just see the amount of electrical tape under the hood... Sam

Friday, November 01, 2002 - 03:52 pm The '86 T-Type grille has chrome on the top and the center vertical bar is also charome - the rest is blacked out. The front bumper is chrome - the same as any Regal. The marker lamp assy and the headlight bezels are common with the GN. There is a picture of my 86 T in my profile. The car is completely stock.

Friday, November 01, 2002 - 08:06 pm Fred, the headlamp bezels are the same but the marker lamp on the T has chrome trim like yours and the GN has black trim.

Friday, November 01, 2002 - 08:19 pm I've got 2 pics of the car I took today up on my website. http://www.tothemetal.net/ Might give you a better idea of what I'm looking at. The replacement bumper cover I have for it is also black plastic. I figure right now I just need to get the guts that go behind it (reinforcements, the steel portion of the bumper) and later on I'll track down a chrome piece. Sam

Friday, November 01, 2002 - 09:32 pm Phil, I see what you are saying. The marker lamps on a GN are completely blacked out and the ones on the T-Types do have a chrome inner trim. Never noticed that before. Samuel, good to see you're bringing a geat car back to life. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with it. Keep us posted.
