Donald L. Webb (Spiderwebb) | Sunday, July 06, 2003 - 01:23 am After careful measuring, I drilled a small hole just above the bolt threads and sprayed WD40 for several days. On one side, two of the bolts would not come loose. The blue wrench got the rear one, but I couldn't remove the one under the rear seat. My breaker bar and a four foot pipe couldn't get it to come out. I did, however, get the square plate with the threads in it to turn and it cut the sides of the channel it is retained by on the bottom side of the floor board. Now what? I drilled a 1/8" hole through the floor board, through the square plate, (use a carbide tipped drill, the plate is hardened.) and through the bottom of the channel. I dropped a 1/8" Allen wrench through all three parts. This time, I mangled the Allen wrench. Too small! Next went to a 3/8" hole and hex key. That finally did the job. If you want to finish the job correctly, you have to weld the channel closed. I just made a short channel to fit over the outside of the damaged original. I hope I made the description clear enough to follow. |
