I own a 87'gn and I can't get the fan/blower on the a/c- heater controls to work. I have no heat or a/c, but my a/c compressor comes on. I checked fuses o.k.Nothing is coming through the vents. Anybody have any ideas.
This same issue just popped up in the "Electrical, Sensors, and Gauges" section. Might have a look there.
First thing is to determine if the blower motor has died, or if it is in the wiring, switch, fuse, etc...
Start by applying battery voltage directly to the blower motor. If it does not run, then replace the motor.
If it runs, then backtrack thru the wiring side.
Thanks Scott and Steve for your replies, but Steve what's the easiest way to get to the motor to test it. access under the hood or under the dash. and does it require interacting with freon/ refrigerant?
Lift the hood and look on the passenger side right in front of the firewall,next to the acculalator.You will see the motor there and the wire to upplug to test it.You want to put power to the motor not the wire to see if it will run.Bruce
Thanks Bruce, you pointed me in the right direction, I thought the motor would be further down. The motor did work when I applied 12v to it. come to find out it was the relay that supplies the a/c. Could you believe there was a bent male prung on the purple wire that feeds 12v to the motor. They must of disconnected it when I got my motor redone at Ron's custom auto, and didn't put it back right because the a/c worked before. thanks again , Dave Ruskey
