Anyone here experienced with installing high-end stereo systems in a GN? I am currently having trouble installing the 6x9's, and they are having trouble clearing the rods for the trunk. After I got them in I was going to start figuring out my box for the subs. Any insight would be much appreciated.

I installed 6x9's in my gn by using the adapters. They are available at Best Buy for 15.99.They angled the speakers so the rods were not a problem.I have high end systems in my other vehicles but I don't want to add too much weight to the gn.Bruce

Well I can tell you what I did/are doing. I have installed a set of separates in the front (6.5" in the door and 1" tweets in the dash) and just went with a pair of subs for the rear. I do not have any speakers in the rear of the car other than the subs. I think they (6X9's) confuse the sound a little. Anyway, I currently run a pair of 8" Bazooka tubes for subs and they REALLY hit hard. For an amp I just use a single 4 channel Phoenix gold. I like it, simple and sounds good. I am currently building a box for a pair of 10" subs. The box is actually becoming part of the car ala Jim Testa (although not near as nice). Try to use a deck with at least 4V pre-outs too. That seemed to be the biggest improvement thus far for my system. HTH.

Hi Erik. I was wondering how you fit the 6.5" speakers in the door. Also how you got the tweeters into the dash, is it easy? I am also wondering about building a box for some 12's, any ideas on that?

Adding the tweeters to the dash is as simple as removing the 7 (as I recall) screws that hold the top cover onto the dash panel (both speaker grilles are molded into this piece), lifting it off and swapping out the speakers. A word of caution: make sure you install a capacitor (your stereo store will help) on each speaker before you drop them in. Getting the 6.5" speakers into the doors entails modifying the "basket" the stock speaker sits in to ensure that the speaker sits correctly in relation to the door panel. A modification to the back side of the door panel may also be required. I've got a Limited, so my door panel is a bit different than the GN. That's why I'm being a bit vague here.

Since there are not too many people that would be interested in this thread maybe we should take it to private email. Contact me and I will try to answer your questions. In the mean time check out http://members.sounddomain.com/ for some ideas. In particular check out Jim Testa's site, very nice.

easiest way to get a set of 6.5 mids & tweets upfront, can be accomplished by buying a set of Q-forms,they make a custom built kick panel for your component sets, you do have to relocate your ECM,which the instructions with the Q-forms tellyou how.
