Louis L. Fishman, IV (Llf4th) | Tuesday, December 18, 2001 - 08:24 pm The driver's side power window on my '86 Regal likes to "skip" its way down. Essentially, it likes to consistently skip down, yet goes up absolutely smoothly (the window does go down smoothly if I push down on the top of the glass). I have tried a different power window motor from a junkyard, and still the same problem. I am hoping it is not the regulator (the "scissor-type" mechanism which basically controls the movement of the window) because that is a real pain to change out. I have also greased all gears, joints, and pivot points, to no avail. Maybe it's a worn gear in the regulator, or just a worn gear in the motor (the junkyard motor could be bad as well)? A new motor perhaps? Also, I have purchased the "How To Eliminate Window Rattles and Wind Noise" book from Kirban, as well as (2) window kits, which replace vital wear-prone window brackets and perches. While these are great buys, they have not helped with the "skipping" problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |
