| | Wednesday, January 09, 2002 - 06:34 pm For Christmas, my wife got me all new upholstery for my GN from Jax. I don't know wether this is the right forum for this, but you all should know that Jax work is terrific! The fabric is an Exact match.Installing was straightforward, maybe a bit tedious. My car went from looking rough, to actually being presentable. If you need any interior work, you should check them out. As for carpet, check this out. I removed the carpet while the interior was out, and although the carpet was loaded with dirt and faded a bit, it was in decent shape. I decided to try an experiment.I beat a much loose dirt out of it as I could with a broomstick, laid it out on the garage floor and hosed it until it was wet, but not dripping too much. I then jammed the whole thing in our washer and washed it with liquid Tide. After the spin cycle, I started the cycle over again with hot water and dumped in a container of Rit dye I got at Rite Aid for 3 bucks. After a lot of nail biting, I got it out of the washer, and it looks great. I don't recommend trying this, but if you do, you had better have a BIG washing machine (I have 3 kids), make sure the rubber backing is all that comes in contact with the agitator, or it'll rip a hole in the front side. Be sure to run the washer empty with detergent and bleach after the dying process, and most importantly, make sure your wife is out for the night.
