Valve Springs
Just curious, I have a modified rebuild with 120000 on it. Is there any reason to think about changing the valve springs at this time???
Is there really that much of an improvement in throttle response or over-all power. Oil pressure and compression are fine FWIW. |
Re: Valve Springs
Depends on what springs were used on the rebuild ... they may be fine, but the stockers tend to get soggy after a few years and as little as 20-30K miles.
With soft valvesprings you end up with premature valve float which shows up primarily under high boost/high(er) revs. |
Re: Valve Springs
46000 miles stock engine and turbo, bigger injectors running E-85. I was not sure it the springs had been changed. I was having issues where my engine did not like to pull above 4400 rpm. The engine pulled smooth and strong at lower rpms. In 3rd gear above 95 mph, it would fall flat. I installed new comp 980's w/o the stock baskets. A bitch of job to change on the passenger side. End result is it pulls hard at higher rpms. Need to go to the track to test the improvement. Wanted to get this thread to the top because it helped me.:shiny:
