87 GN -- Made in Canada??

Hey Turbo Buick People,

I just got my greasy hands on an 87 GN that appears to have been manufactured in Canada. The speedo is in Km/H and the RPO sticker in the trunk is in English and French.

Couple of questions for anyone who can help

1) Were there cars made in or for export to Canada?

2) I assume since the speedo shows Km/H that the mileage on the car is also in Kilometers?

3) Anyone have one of these cars? Is there anything particular I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for any help

Mark

Yes, made in Pontiac Michigan (just like all other Regals, and maybe all other G-bodies of the era) and exported to Canada and several other countries. (Finland, UK, Scotland, etc.) Look for the PON code on the RPO sticker.

Yes. The odometer rolls over more frequently since it is only five digits, unfortunately.

Production of the foreign destination cars was lower than the US cars. Other than that, not much.

thanks scott -- i really appreciate the quick reply. i will look on the rpo sticker. interestingly, the car is a california car with original ca plates that are date-sequence correct for 87 so i'm curious how it got here

re: odomoter. i'm glad to hear that as it means its a lower mile car than i originally thought

again, appreciate the help -- you'll see me on here as i get the car together

Get a CarFax on it to get the real answer.

CarFax is clean.

Any sense of what this car might be worth?
77K miles.
NO RUST.
T-Tops, Posi, Soft-Ray, Power, etc.

Exterior a 7. (Driver door was tagged, there's a replacement with OK paint. Needs rear bumper fillers. Has a couple dings.)

Interior a 6 (needs new seat covers, new seat belts, new carpets, etc. dash OK, no cracks. Console OK. Steering wheel not so hot)

Engine stock, runs out good. Shifts tight

Brakes are a mess. Squeak, whine, hard/soft pedal. I don't know if they were ever addressed

Thanks -- feeling like I mighta paid too much but dunno
