What size is Alt wire?

Is it 8 gauge? Also can I upgrade this to 4 gauge, if so how many volts can I get out of it?

Re: What size is Alt wire?

Caspers makes one that uses 6 ga. that is designed for high amperage (175-200) alternators. So wire at least that large has been used. I suppose 4 ga. may work, but will be harder to make the turns.

Standard voltage should be ~13.6-13.8. Using a voltage boosting device would net more. But those usually are only in effect under WOT and boost.
