wrong coil
 
i had order a coil for a 85 t type they sent one for a 86 and i changed the coil it pluged right in it started smoking at the harnness by the water pump i quit cranking it soon as seen the smoke i unwrap the harness and nothing was melted any idea wut it could of been maybe a sensor??????? and it wont start now

If by "coil" you are referring to just the coil pack, then it should work.

If you are actually talking about the complete unit (coil pack AND the ignition module), THEY ARE WIRED DIFFERENTLY and you need the Casper's Adapter to make it work correctly. You probably smoked some of the wiring/sensors.
