Default VIN 3 with roller lifters So do these blocks have the factory rollers?

Deck height reduced by 0.035" to accommodate 0.058" thick composition head gaskets
Torque-to-yield reusable head bolts
Water drain plugs added to block on both sides between freeze plugs
3.8 liter transverse FWD available
VIN B with flat lifters
VIN 3 with roller lifters
New heads/valve train with pedestal style rockers
Gerotor oil pump
Needle bearing camshaft thrust bearing (P/N 25532588) *which works great with the turbo 3.8s!
3/8" dipstick hole with O-ring seal on tube

Hi, I just read this about the history of the V6. Does this mean some had factory roller cams?

VIN 3 is different from VIN 9/VIN 7/VIN A.

VIN 3 is Front Wheel Drive (and a different animal). There were NO rear wheel drive roller lifter versions. Different casting and bellhousing.

So none of the front drive stuff would work in a GN. I bet in a regular Regal or other A/G body a supercharged 3800 Type II or is it III and the 700R4 from the newer Camaros would be a nice performer. No GN but with a small pulley, a freer exhaust and intake 300 HP would be realistitc.

But I'm sure most would stab a 350 into one or go with an LS1.

You could do it (Series III would be the best) ...

Challenges:
  • Manifold is backwards (throttle will face the firewall)
  • Motor mounts (although something out of a Gen IV Camarobird would probably get you close)
  • Transmission (a 700R4 from and S10 or a 4L60E from a Camarobird would get you most of the way there)
