F-Body Radiator Install, 100 Thumbs UP
July 5th : Installed F body Radiator.
Everthing went together Perfectly and Fit Perfectly. Install was nice, simple and easy. Results AMAZING.... http://www.turbobuicks.com/articles/FBody_Radiator/ used this as general guide and for part reference I used this guide for most part, great for part#'s but when hooking up the hosing to oil cooler, i mocked the lengths out before i cut them to what they say at 3-1/2". I bought 8 ft of hose (guide suggest 7ft) and i had enough to do 2 cars. Later on i'll measure what exact lengths of hose i used. What I used was, obviously the F body radiator. An external transcooler hooked up with the "in-line" method. It's not a dedicated Transcooler,it runs through the radiator also this way. You could also just hook right into the Radiators transcooler and not run any externals, all preference. Also, ran a seperate Oil Cooler. You can do away with oil cooler or use a external like I did, that is your preference. I daily drive mine all year so I opted for most cooling components. how i did Transcooler http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/images/Cooler.JPG After Install, Drove 30miles at an avg of 70mp/h and the car never went over the 160's. It was later in the day, like 6:30pm, so it was cool out. My Stocker I would of easily be in the 190's for this drive. July 6th: Today at prime heat time, very hot and sunny day, I drove to and back from vet in stop and go city traffic, again the car never got over the 160's. Simply Amazing results for cheap, i'm still even running stock fan. July 7/8th: Very Hot Out here in philly and humid. High 90's, drove around for an hour maybe a little longer, car was running in 175-183 range. Still cooling nice. Also noticed the Aeroquip fittings that are attached to the oil cooler adapter plate were leaking at the connection, I gave them a few more turns to tighten seems to have stopped that. If continues, i'll proabably take them off and put some loctite thread lock seal on the threads then reinstall. Price Breakdown: Radiator(#433918) and Transcooler(#679) at autozone: $170 Aeroquip Hose(#2556-8 @8ft)& Fittings(2)#4738-8-8B - (2)4740-8B): $85 B&M oilcooler(#70273) : $60 Total of $315.00 if you decide to hook up right into radiators transcooler take off $40.00 and only pay $275.00. If you decide to run no oil cooler also take away another $60+$85 and only paid $118.00 (just cost of radiator) pics here.. http://turbobuicks.net/gallery2/v/ja...FbodyRadiator/ pics PhillyTurboSix took, start here and hit next.. http://turbobuicks.net/gallery2/v/Ph..._2088.JPG.html |

Re: F-Body Radiator Install, 100 Thumbs UP
This was a super easy install and was fun to do with Jay. Those 20 year old rads are slowly clogging up. Around here no one fixes/recores them anymore. To many inviroment laws for the chemicals they use. Plus you loose 18lbs off the front end with the f body rad mod!
