Default Broken shifter cable housing (Was: Oops...)

In the process of replacing the bushings, I managed to knock off a "clip".

Only later did I find out this clip was holding together the connection between my column shifter and converted floor shifter!

I have no idea where the clip was (I was not the one that did the conversion), other than came from the drivers side of the transmission bell somewhere...

Any help?

Lightbulb Re: Oops...

Converted, how?

Have a pic of the clip?

Normal column cars have a pin on part of the mechanism where the cable terminates hooks on the trans to move its mechanism, and this attaches to what is part of the column mechanism. This is key to have ignition interlock.

Ugh. I really did it.

So in terms of "conversion" a GN floor shifter and center console were added to the car, but the column shifting mechanics were all left installed (just took the stick off the column).

Here is the link to the part I broke. It's the linkage cable going from the floor shifter to the trans:

From the looks of it, it's all one piece? So I have to replace the entire length going from the shifter to the trans?

PS: I'm working from an iPad, which doesn't let me attach pics, hence the link

Unhappy Re: Oops...

The OEM shift cable for the floor shifter on these cars is fragile in that spot. It is also not made by GM any longer, to my knowledge. The length is pretty critical, and thus a NOS or used piece would be the best option.

The good news is that is is not a TR-specific part.

I would contact Gbodyparts.com, NOS4GN.com, etc.
