87 T-Type coughing issues under boost
Hello,
I recently developed a problem with my Buick and was wondering if anybody could help me out or indicate if they have had the same problem. On launch and under boost during 1st and 2nd gear, my car seems to cough. It makes the sound like a popping noise, almost like an air hose has blown off the engine. When this happens, I get knock and the computer pulls the timing. However, when I keep my foot in it, the car works through the coughing and pulls hard. I seem to think I'm getting false knock and that the intermittent "popping" sound is coincidental to the false knock. Anyway, my car only acts this way on initial boost up but when I'm in final gear, it pulls hard and doesn't cough at full throttle. The second issue is that even after I replaced the O2 sensor with a new one, at wide open throttle, my 02 voltage is lower than normal. I dont know why this is. I'm running 110 octane racing fuel with 60 lb. injectors, Walboro 340 fuel pump, and 24psi of boost. The chip is a turbo tweak chip with 27 / 23 degrees of timing. Again, this problem is only happening while I'm accelerating from a slow roll or from the stopped position and doesn't occur in final gear at WOT. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
