Default F-Body Radiator Swap Oil Cooler Fittings (Was: Re: Fuel Pressure Issue)

Very true.

I found a F-Body Radiator Swap posting here and it talked about a specific radiator <1990 F Body V8 application> i purchased it but now can not find anyone who sells the required oil cooler fittings...

The post said to use Aeroquip oil cooler hose fittings,i have called autozone, advanced auto parts, napa and even summit and no one comes up with the part numbers listed in the post.

Do you know where i can get these fittings from for my tranny and engine oil cooler?

And as far as the high boost levels, can you suggest another way to lower the boost, currently the rod is even with the flapper stud No pressure at all?

As always thanks for your time and thoughts Rick-

Lightbulb Re: Fuel Pressure Issue

Relocated this as it is no longer a fuel issue.

Try the Aeroquip link in the article. There are a lot of hits for those numbers on Google. Just because they don't show on Summit, doesn't mean they won't carry or order them. Regardless, try a hydraulic supply source, not one that sells under-car neon, multi-tip plugs, and fart-can mufflers.

As for the boost, you might be getting "boost creep" if that 20# is not steady, and need to port the wastegate hole. I believe we have an article on that. Followups to the turbo area.

my car is really heating up quick,do you know if i can remove the oil cooler just temporarily until i can find the correct fittings i need?

I have a hayden tranny cooler new that i never used for my LS1 T/A... so im all set as far as the tranny goes.

I want to install the new radiator but the oil cooler fittings are not easily found quickly and this car is currently my daily driver.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

Several people have chosen to eschew the oil cooler. No one has indicated harm from doing so that I recall.

Having your radiator rodded out is always an option, but difficult when it is your primary transportation. Others may be interested in the core if you were planning to throw it in the trash.

I actually just looped the oil cooler line and that took care of that issue for now,i do intend on getting a B&M oil cooler real soon though.

As far as the old radiator,i took a good look inside and my goodness it is all sludge up in there, but it is the original radiator and it did its job for the last 23 yrs.

Since im a new member to this site can i actually post a used part for sale?

On ls1 tech i had to wait till i hit 50 posts before selling an item...

For what ever its worth i have been a ebay member since 2003 and im currently at 292 and 100% rating...

At any rate my car is all set at this point and thank you very much for all your time and thoughts...

My guess is that the oil was not changed regularly, and wasn't synthetic.

No issues posting to the "for sale / wanted" areas, as you have found.

Hope the radiator brings those temps down. don't Forget a cooler thermostat.
