Default Not shifting

I was getting on the highway the other day (normal acceleration) and my car stayed in 3rd gear for too long. (Gear selector in "O"). It was winding out, then down shifted to 2nd. I let off the gas for a few seconds and all seemed ok. I gently depressed the gas pedal to the floor and everything seemed ok. I did that twice. Overdrive engaged and I continued my ride. When I exited the highway, I came to a red light and smelled something burning. After sitting at the stop light for a few minutes, I get the green and slowly give it gas. It slipped a little and started to move. Only problem is it won't shift past 2nd gear now. I'm going to drop the pan and check the obvious, I'm curious if there are any tell tale signs of failure aside from burnt fluid or debris to look for. I had already tried adjusting the TV cable to no avail. Thanks.

Thumbs down Re: Not shifting

I removed the pan. Fluid looked ok. No debris in pan. Thanks for all the input. I pulled the trans to have it rebuilt. Thanks again for the help.

Exclamation Re: Not shifting

Hopefully by a trusted source that will give you back *your* trans and valvebody, and can make sure it is right.

I took it to Janis Transmission in Akron Ohio. Very knowledgable with the Turbo Regals.

Smile Re: Not shifting

Got my trans back from Janis Transmissions and got to put some miles on it. Wow! Night and day difference! Highly recommended builder. It looked brand new too! It's like a newer car! Top notch work! If you need a tranny built, look him up.

Great! Good choice of rebuilder too ... they definitely have been in the TR trans game for a long time and know their stuff...
