Default To Kirban or not to Kirban...

I am looking into "improving" the suspension on my GN. I was contemplating the Kirban GNX upgrade but wasn't sure. Does anyone have any input? Does anyone know of any other complete systems out there?

Question Re: To Kirban or not to Kirban...

Improving to do...what?

Drag? Street? Road race? Soft cruising?

Hard to have the same parts do them all well.

I am looking to have more of a "Pro-Touring" approach. Great handling, good ride. Firm but not crazy harsh. A similar ride to what I have in my GTO ('05). Mainly for street driving but might like to take it to the track for some cone weaving (I realize G-bodies might not be the best autocrossers but I love them and that is what I like to do).

I would save a couple grand and just upgrade the stock set up. I think these cars had a pretty impressive system from the floor. Just tighten everything up. (stiffer stuff). Box the uppers and lowers, shocks, springs, etc....

wat are the major benifits from the gnx suspension upgrade. i know it has a torque bar and the main reason for the suspension was to gain traction. did this help handling for street. such as cornering hard and wat not??

While the "official" stats seem to indicate that there was little change in the skid pad numbers between a stock GN and the GNX, I test drove a "new" GNX about 5 years ago (new in that it only had 15k on the OD) and I felt like that thing was on rails. I was just wondering if my time and money could be spent on a more effective way of getting around that same corner.

Lightbulb Re: To Kirban or not to Kirban...

I installed HRPartsnstuff arms and QA1 adjustable shocks. But my goals are different. Ride did firm up a BUNCH, however.

GNX suspension might be a good choice for your goals.

No cheap way to do a 'pro touring' car.

Not looking for cheap, just effective way to spend the money. I have already contacted several one-off wheel builders to build me a set of 17 or 18 inch GNX replicas and the quotes I've been getting are around $1000 per wheel plus a $500 dollar inital design fee. I don't plan on selling the GN so I have the time to save and do it right.
