Water pump
Hey guys I'm having my motor rebuilt by Mike from Full Throttle Speed and turning this into a stroker motor with forged crank, pistons, and rods etc. I'm looking for a water pump and wanted to see if anyone is using the TA Performance water pump which cost about $200. TA performance says it will outflow a stock water pump but is it really worth it? So my question is should I go down to Advance Auto parts and buy a $40 water pump or spend $200 for a higher flow water pump???

Re: Water pump
TA pump is a nice piece ... however, the stock one is fine and works well. Just don't buy a crappy offshore piece.
The AC Delco has been in my car for many years: http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....020957&jsn=401

Re: Water pump
Ken,
The TA performance pump that was taken off my motor is about 2 years old and sounds like it has a bad bearing in it when spinning it by hand. I might check with TA performance if this pump came with a warranty. Otherwise, I might just go with the $30 water pump from Rock Auto like you got on your motor. You can buy a lot of water pumps for the price of 1 water pump from TA Performance. I think I will also invest in a 3" core aluminum radiator with dual fan set up to help keep the engine running cool. Currently looking at G-body parts aluminum dual fan set up for $675. Anyway, thanks for the link you provided for the A/C Delco water pump. I spent $14,000 on this build and don't want junk parts on this motor. Always help to get feedback on here. Thank You, Jamie C. |
