Default too much fluid?

anybody ever put too much fluid in their tranny? I think my car was overfilled. after i watched it drip over the last few days, it is normal again,(I check it regularly) my question was any damage done? My car did have a very small leak but never needed to be tapped off. 85 GN hot air.thanks,

Typically you would want to overfill by a quart. The fluid sloshes to the back of the pan under acceleration and starves the pick up. If fluid was coming out of the dipstick tube...I would say that was too much. Otherwise no damage done.

Check the cooler lines where they meet the casing.
Check around the pan.
Check where the dipstick tube meets the casing.
Remove the scatter shield (covers the converter) and see if fluid is coming from the pump area.

Can you visisbly see where the fluid is coming from?

have not went underneath yet, seems to be done dripping, but it was coming out the bottom, looking in my repair manual it said it would come out the vent?, stick is at normal before and after the overfill. shifts ok.

It may come out the vent, but that is more for airation (aeration). When air gets whipped into the fluid and begins to foam it needs somewhere to vent. Also just to get rid of vapor.
