140 amp alt.
I took this off a buick roadmaster, I just had to file a little off the case and it was a direct bolt it. with everything on, a/c on max, both fans on high high beams etc.. 14.2 volts at an idle.. |

i also had to get a belt that was 1/2 inch shorter than stock, cause the alt pulley is smaller

Yeah, I figured there had to be a reason. You're too good a wrench not to have tried that. I'm waiting on my 200 amp conversion kit. Anybody tried one of those yet?

Also keep in mind that changing the pulley will change the power output of the alternator.
A smaller pulley will spin the alternator faster, giving you more juice. A larger pulley will slow it down, giving you less. You could get more output from the stock alternator by swapping in a smaller pulley. Of course, you still have to make the belts fit no matter what! |

after puttin the shorter belt, i installed the smaller pulley that the alternator came with, I didnt do any test with the GN pulley installed on the 140 amp unit.
