http://store.boxwrench.net/GM-Turbo-...DVD_p_143.html is the only video I know of.

Also, http://www.ckperformance.com/resourc...CALMANUAL.html has a great guide you can purchase to help with the build.

that boxwrench video is out of stock.
there is a dvd on 200-4r rebuild for about 80$ on ebay and else where.
anyone seen this dvd or the boxwrench video and care to comment on there quality, detail and value ?

the GM/Haynes book
the astg book
and ck performance....
book are excellent .
the next step would logically be the video.....
anyone have these 200-4r dvd or video ?
thanks
for comments

paul
ps the seller of the dvd on ebay (makco transmissions) says there is no link to any clips of the dvd nor is there (makco said) any reviews of it by those makco has sold the dvd to. fyi.

The service manuals are really good at the general rebuild stuff, there's info on our site from the members (in the transmission section) and the THM200 supplement manual is good for a bunch of the down in the weeds details on the valve body and such (plus part of that is posted on the site).

That all said ... it's sometimes worth it to just let the specialists do it, unless you have all the special tools/holders/pullers/etc. to do the disassembly and reassembly. It's pretty finicky stuff and it's a pleasure to have someone who knows these transmission and what to upgrade as far as hard parts, seals, bushings, etc. just do it and put their guarantee on it. Things like additional clutches and steels (and how to machine them correctly to fit), hardened sunshells/input shafts, etc.

thanks ken.
the paul zank dvd is currently not available but its vhs version is (google paul zank).
however I think it is maako transmission parts that is selling the paul zank dvd along with the astg 200-4R booklet on ebay currently for like 70$ ish.
go figure.... paul zank isn't selling his dvd ( but is selling the same thing on vhs )
while maako is selling the paul zank dvd along with astg book on ebay.

I have the VHS and while I have not seen (hands on) a actual teardown/rebuild .... the paul zank presentation has got to be the next best thing.
ken you are right about the 200-4R pros.... with these trans fading as newer ones are developed interest and support for the 200 will dwindle , so for now support of the pros is good. plus like you said .... save yourself a headache or heartache.

also of note is CK book. a must for anyone interested in these trannys.
thanks
paul d.

Totally agree with Ken's post! Also, something to think about is a rebuild warranty from a shop so if something goes wrong its on them as compared if you do it and something goes wrong your out money, time, and a car until the tranny is fixed. However, if you are great mechanic and have the proper tools than by all means take it apart and reassemble it.

It's actually a "parts requisition" document that has a detailed breakdown and diagrams of all the THM200 assemblies.

looks detailed and good quality diagrams. my 1999 astg manual is poor print quality.
is this 'quick-reg' MW9 out there some where so a copy can be had ?
