Tire size?
Im looking into buying a new set of meat for my 87 gn. Im running 15x7 centerlines up front and 15x8 centerlines in the rear. Im interested in some good street drag radials and want to figure out what is the biggest size tires I can run in the front and rear. right now I have 235/50's in the front and 245/50's in the rear; they fit perfect but I would like to go bigger.I dont mind a little rub, as long as it will not cause too much noise with normal driving or premature failure. This car is mostly a daily driver, with the occasional trip to the track. I plan on upgrading my suspension in the front and rear,(NO LOWERING, maybe lifting if necessary) so should I consider anything when upgrading my suspension?
My order of what I want in the tires are 1) look 2)lifespan 3)ride comfort and safety 4)performance 5)price. Any reccomendations on size and tire brands?out of curiosity, what is the absolute biggest and meanest looking tire can you run on these(with no regards to anything else)? Ive heard good things about the nittos and was real interested in going with the nt555r in the rear and the invo's in front.(sorry im a little in the dark when in comes to anything about tires so explanations are helpful). Thanks. |

Re: Tire size?
do you use the mt et drag radials or the et street radials? the mt drag radial is for track use only, right? and what type and size tire do you use up front?
have you had any problems with that (275/50) size tire? sorry for all the questions. I just have money to spend, and I want to spend it wisely. thanks again. |

Re: Tire size?

Re: Tire size?
I would NOT suggest mounting a 275 anything on stock wheels. They might be able to be mounted, but the wheels are an inch too narrow to take a tire that wide. It makes for a somewhat dangerous situation, and not all of the tire surface will properly contact the road surface.

Re: Tire size?
pacemkr, the mickey thompson et drag radials have zero tread on them, right? I looked on the website and they say they are not for highway use. are you talking about the same tire?
so you have no problem with them for daily driving? |

Here is the part number.. looks like they are calling them a street radial MTT-3753R http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku Extreme traction on the strip, drives you home on the street.
