Is it possible if you use cheaper brand name tire on your turbo regal it could cause low 1/4 mile times.

Question Re: cheaper tires cost low et's

Not sure I get what you are saying. "Low 1/4 mile time" means "faster car". Are you suggesting that there is a cheap tire that magically creates lower 1/4 mile times?

correction reguarding my question. Will using a cheaper brand tire cause your turbo regal to have high 1/4 mile time (slow speeds or times)

It comes down to traction ... if the cheaper tire is made of a harder compound and doesn't hook well, then yes.

If it is a recap or something with sticky rubber, then no.

I've actually been able to pull 1.9-2.0 short times with a "cheap" BFG Radial T/A 275/60-15 tire ... it definitely took some restraint on the throttle though.

so all in all? yes.. the cheaper the tire, the slower the car. dont get cheap tires, or all the work you put into the drivetrain/suspension, to soup her up, is wasted, if you cant hook off the line, (bad compound) or corner at decent speeds (****ty sidewalls/cheap materials). dont waste your efforts.. top it all off with a good set of tires man. if youre going to go, go all the way. its a difference you can noticably feel. I could, and my car only has around 10 ft/lbs of torque increase. **** tires totally brings down the entire experience on your car. dont do it. unless youre going to drive it every other sunday, very slow, in a straight line, then youre ok, buy the cheap stuff.
