Default Head Bolts ARP

I have ARP head bolts, and have read Ken,s tips on head gaskets. Are all the bolts on our 87 turbo engies going into coolant passages? I need to know this for correct torqing of the head! It looks to me like they do. Also what types of thread sealant should I use?

TIA
Ed V.

ARP makes a sealant that's Teflon based and so does GM. It's basically some white "goop" that goes on the threads.

It's not really exotic stuff and the main thing is to use the correct torque spec for the lubricant used on the heads and shoulder of the bolt.

According to ARP card that came with bolts, the torque is 65#'s on blind holes and 80#'s on ones that go into coolant passages! This is why I'm asking if all bolts go into coolant passages?I know this is critical in not blowing another gasket so I'm being causious! Thanks Ken for your help! Also at the factory, did the machine torque all bolts at the same time?

Stock bolts were Torque to Yield and were designed for a certain stretch based on a rotation of the head from a certain point.

Here's a couple good articles:
