That is just all kinds of wrong. I would *carefully* remove the "Y" spade connectors and additional wires. They are not needed.

Note that it is all too easy to break off the spades on the coil or module. Be very careful handling them.

I'll bet it was hooked up to some sort of two step or rev limiter thing (for launch control). The wires would allow you to ground one side of the coil and cause a "stutter" for RPM control.
