Default Rookie having an issue with turbo swap

So this is the first turbo swap I've ever attempted and everything was going well until the end. My GN is an 87' and I was going to swap out the stock turbo with a TA-60 and while I was at it I decided to upgrade to the Precision SLIC at the same time. The old stock turbo came out with little resistance as did the tiny old stock intercooler. The new TA-60 turbo went back in fairly easily. The Precision SLIC gave me some issues but nothing that couldn't be figured out. The problem I ran into was once I had the new turbo and SLIC in place the compressor housing and the intercooler inlet don't line up, not even close. The compressor housing wants to point up just far enough to make it impossible to connect to the SLIC's inlet . Now I'm just a "backyard" mechanic and don't know to much about turbo's but it looks like the two halves of the turbo can be separated and maybe I can rotate the compressor side down to line up with the inlet for the intercooler? Is this at all possible? If so could anyone try and explain the process in as simple a way as possible? Any help would be greatly appriciated! Thanks in advance

You've got the idea. What needs to be done is called "clocking" the compressor housing. Basically, you will be turning the housing to a different point.

The bad news is, you will almost certainly have to pull the turbo off the car. Before you do that, decide how far it will have to move. I would suggest marking the housing and center section with a pencil to determine how far it will have to move in order to get what you need. Note that all six bolts on the rim of the compressor will have to be loosened in order to rotate the housing. Do not remove the bolts or the pieces bridged between them; loosen only! After loosening it, tweak its orientation as needed. It will not take much. I suggest tightening one bolt first, and then pulling the turbo from the car to tighten the rest of them.

Note that the height of the IC neck might be a factor. If the turbo compressor is already exiting horizontal, the IC placement might need to be tweaked a bit. The passenger side bracket or its mounting can be adjusted, but not easily.

FWIW, I was able to clock my turbo (TE-60) fairly easily with the turbo already installed. Just loosened the bolts, rotated the housing, and done.
