New Gen Grand National
If Buick was to build a new generation Grand National what would it be based on?
My wife has a black on black leather 2007 Allure with factory chrome rims. I think when she is done with it, it would make a cool base for a Grand National, although not sure how to fit a turbocharger and an intercooler in it or make it work. Any thoughts? Could be an interesting discussion! |

Re: New Gen Grand National
If one happens, it will be based on the same platform the Cadillac ATS is based on.

Re: New Gen Grand National
They have left open the Regal models as if another version will be offered at a later time this year. It's the production GN 30th anniversary also this year. The twin turbo 2.0ltr platform, all pieces to the puzzle. Time will tell as always!

Re: New Gen Grand National
Is the ATS replacing the CTS? My father-in-law has a CTS, and it is nice, but pretty small. I like our cars cause they are a bit bigger and subtle.
What about the camaro platform? It would be so nice to see Buick bring out an ass stomper to compete against the ZL-1's, Mustang and Shelbys, and Charger's and Challengers running around. I wonder what Chip Foose would do with a T-type or GN on Overhaulin? That would be interesting! |

Re: New Gen Grand National
Chip Foose would shave or relocate the badges, fill the trunk with audio, give it a flamboyant paint scheme, put one-off large wheels on it, and narrow the bumpers. Just like every car that gets in his hands.
The CTS is on a midsize GM Sigma RWD platform these. The ATS is on the smaller GM Alpha RWD platform. Unless you are living in the 1970s, these are normal sizes. The Regal is a world car. It is Opel Insignia based, and labeled as a Buick in the US, Canada, and China. As a Vaxhaull Insignia in the UK. It will never be on the 5th Gen F-body platform.
