Default Horsepower rating difference in 86 to87

The horsepower rating for a 87 GN is Higher then a 86 GN. What change was made to get this horsepower difference?

Plus, the Corvette's HP changed, so they could advertise more.

Actually, the chip update thing was more for cold idle and cold start emissions (and there was another "recall" chip that came later in 87 too).

The drivetrains are basically identical and the HP was pretty much advertising trickery.

If you notice, the ratings are at different RPMs in 86 and 87.

The GNX is also a full second faster than the GN in 1987.

Exclamation Re: Horsepower rating difference in 86 to87

There are equipment reasons for that. (i.e. turbocharger, intercooler, exhaust)
