Default What's the largest tire that can fit on the stock rims?

I have stock 87 GN wheels, and want to keep them on my car. I want to put on BFG drag radials on them. Can I put on the P275/50R15's without having any problems (back spacing, clearance)? Thanks for any help you can give.

Exclamation Re: Tire fit-up

Will the tires fit on stock 15x7 '87 GN wheels? Yes.

But...

Those tires really need a 8" rim or so. Mounting them on the 7" rims will wear out the centers of the tires more quickly. I've seen it happen.

So, you can either just do it and put up with the wear issues, get some wider rims, or have the GN rims widened. Truedesign Wheel in Colorado is one service that does this, and they do a very nice job. GBodyParts is doing this as well. http://www.gbodyparts.com/product_in...cddf6137414840

I just called Tru-Wheel a week or so ago to get a quoted price for widening a GN wheel to 8". They charge $190 per wheel exchange or as in my case I do not need the center sections rechromed or painted, the price was $165. Stockton Wheel in California charges $145/wheel with a 4 to 6 week turn-a-round time.

I've tried to attach a picture of a 275/50-15 size M/T drag radial mounted on a stock 7" GN wheel that is mount on a GN. See what you think and sorry about posting the huge picture.
