Intercooler brackets/lower timing cover/ service manual picture please
I am having some difficulties getting my intercooler lined up properly. I think some of the studs at the bottom timing cover may be incorrect, missing a washer/spacer or whatever. Does anybody have a link or a picture of the correct arrangement/order of parts in that area? Mabey from the service manual?
I'd like to do this correctly so that the intercooler inlet is aligned with the turbo outlet, and doens't hit either fan. You know, the way its supposed to be from the factory. Thank you VERY much, ElectraJim 86 GN |

Re: Intercooler brackets/lower timing cover/ service manual picture please
Ok, I have the "Buick Illustratorn Group" book, and it's not that much help.
Think it would be huh. How about someone enlighting me to the order of hardware starting from the engine block. I'm talking about point number "62" and "54" on the timing cover. Is this the correct order? Pass side: engine block, timing cover gasket, timing cover, stud, wire harness retainer (plastic), IC bracket, nut. Driver side: engine block, timing cover gasket, timing cover, crank sensor bracket, stud, wire harness retainer (plastic), IC bracket, nut. Am i missing anything? ElectraJim |

Jim,You have the mounting sequence correct. You can bend those brackets. Just line the IC up straight and bend the brackets where they need to be.
