Default Fuel Pump Sending Unit Repair

Hello. Was looking for the procedure to repair sending unit for erratic fuel gauge readings. I completed this 4 years ago and have the same issue. The link from back then was:
http://home.comcast.net/~84gngary/sendingunit1.html

Can anyone tell me where the new link may be with all the detailed steps by 84gngary?

I also have a new issue that came up today. I drove 300 miles on the odometer, and was only able to get 7 gallons of gas into the tank before it spewed out of the filler pipe. I am thinking it must be vent or carbon canister related? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Exclamation Re: Fuel Pump Sending Unit Repair

The links on that page work fine...IF you view it in Internet Explorer ONLY.

I would check your vent line.

Thanks Keller. I was not using Internet Explorer as I found Mozilla Firefox to be much quicker for my aging computer.

How does one "check the vent line" please?

Thanks Ken. I can use those links to fix the gauge.

How does one check the fuel tank venting?

I suppose you would insure that it is unobstructed and passes air freely.

I can't find the word "vent" in the fuel technical section. What part might become obstructed or not pass air freely?

Lightbulb Re: Fuel Pump Sending Unit Repair

There are three lines on the fuel pump hanger: fuel supply, fuel return, and vent. The vent line connects to the charcoal canister, I believe. In essence, you should check that the vent passage is open and that the hose/piping connected to it is clear as well. I would just set up an air line and see if the passages flow cleanly.
