Default GN87 hinge problem

Hi,

Some problem in our GNīs driverīs side upper hinge: the pin, where is the roller for locking the door "half way" open, or how I could it indicate, is broken. The point, where it is broken, is just over the roller so, that the roller has come apart with the piece of the broken pin.

So, is that pin possible to replace with new roller into the hinge, or how to proceed?

For instance Rock Auto catalog donīt tell me anything about that part or whole hinge set, only about the the actual hinge pins with the bushings.

BR,

Thanks for your information Ken!

So, is your recommendation to use these companies for quality reasons? How about RockAuto?

Just because those were the first ones I found that were complete. I've had good luck with Rock Auto too ... looks like they offer a "Goodmark" part which is usually a decent reproduction part.

This may not be an easy option in Finland, but where US cars are more dense...

Look for an 81-87 4 door GM G-body (G47) car. Used the same front door hinges, but had a fraction of the weight and stress put on them. Cheap at wrecking yards, and often have a lot of life left in them.

Thanks Scott again!

I have the feeling and some knowledge, that there in Finland(as you doupt) is not so many G- bodies in the junkyard, maybe not any, where are the suitable hinges for GN.

But, I will look the things again.

Pentti
