Bang Head Stage two heads

Having read a bit about Buick heads...a question happens.
For maximum flow...which is best v6 head?
Buick Performance has impressive numbers for stage two aluminum.

Thanks

Question Re: Stage two heads

Well, the "best head" for any application is the one that fits and has the best flow for your needs.

Not sure what heads you are asking about. Stage 2 V6 items, either from GM or via the aftermarket, flow great. However, they are designed as racing components and don't share a lot with production ones. Stage 2 heads are made to fit Stage 2 blocks. That means they have HUGE ports, and have extra bolt holes for each cylinder. They also don't use the stock shaft rocker system. They really aren't designed for use with the production blocks.

So, could you clarify the question? Are you wanting to build a race motor that could easily cost five figures, or trying to find the best head for a production (i.e. "109") block? And are you looking for something to drive around, or something strictly for the strip?

Simply curious about max flow capabilities.
I have a set of each head type.
Visually they are very different.

I think Scott's point was valid. Obviously, Stage 2 heads are going to have the max flow. Huge ports, different port offsets, huge valves ... and so on.

However, without either building a high RPM (relatively ... think 7-8K RPM) Indy "stock block" or Indy Lite motor or the modified dirt track motor that was in the primary application back in the 70s/early 80s ... you probably won't see the benefit. Or build a high boost (30-40 PSI) drag motor that also stays in the upper part of the RPM band ...

The production and street oriented heads ... especially those aimed at production block architectures (off-center) are kind of "apples" to "oranges" when looking at racing stuff like the Stage 2s.
